Entrance requirements are similar to other Master of Engineering degree programs in the College of Engineering. They include:
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, or mathematics
- The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test is strongly recommended but not required. (Students seeking financial aid must submit GRE scores.)
- Two letters of recommendation, a one-page statement of purpose, and official undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) transcripts are required.
- Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by submitting an official score report from either the Michigan English Language Battery, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS), or the Examination for the Michigan Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE) unless they have received a Bachelor's degree from an institution in which the language of instruction is exclusively English
